Miniprints

Glance: photo etch, intaglio, chine collé, 4" x 4", 2010

These editions explore the ambiguous relationship between words and images as sources of meaning, and often integrates autobiographical elements. In form my prints balance photographic material with drawings or accidental marks as a reference to the concepts also held in balance; concepts like the known and unknown, structure and chaos, public and private, word and image, nature and nurture, or mind and body. My themes include the insufficiency of language to communicate personal experiences, retain memory, or express grief, joy or mystery. These prints are small in scale, with a maximum dimension of 6", as many were designed for participation in international miniprint exhibitions.
