Retaining memories seems impossible for me, and this is my visual analogy for that struggle. In this piece, objects that suggest an archive (a manila folder, a filing cabinet, a briefcase) feature prominently. I imagine that the ocean, in its vastness and with its repetition, is in some ways like an archive. The water and the waves are the events but also the only place for the recordkeeping. Each specific wave inevitably transforms into the next one, created from the exact substance as the last, so the erasure is complete.
